2019 Summer Vacation- Part 1: Malaysia

Friends have asked about our recent travels, so here are some pictures! This was taken at 4:00am, when we thought we were embarking on a 30 hour journey...

... and who knew we would end up in London instead of Hong Kong?

Our travels ended up taking us 50 hours instead of 30. Yikes!

First priority was meeting the very adorable baby Evan! He's 4 months old now and super cute and chubby. We love him so much.

Nothing tastes better than refreshing coconut water straight from a coconut.

One of our favorites-- roti canai, an Indian flatbread.

We took an overnight trip to Genting Highlands. The kids enjoyed an indoor theme park and arcade. It's located at higher elevation, so the weather is cooler.

Malaysians are huge fans of bubble tea.

Sophie celebrated her 11th birthday and received a letter to Hogwarts!

More Genting Highlands pics.

I got to spend time to my high school besties YC and Gwen. I treasure our time together. YC brought me out to eat dim sum. So good!

Everyone enjoys sushi.

At KLCC Twin Towers/shopping mall.

Had dinner with Gwen and YC.

Isn't he adorable?

Vying for the #1 Auntie spot.

Sophie enjoyed the abundance of tropical fruit like mangoes, watermelon and bananas (the little sweet ones).

Parker had a great time!

Tiger Sugar bubble tea. So Instagramable!

YC's mom made us lunch and it was very tasty.

Met the girls one last time before YC went back to Sydney.

Soup noodles

Here are the little bananas

These are rambutan (kind of like lychee)

We visited Batu Caves, a Hindu temple, and climbed the 272 steps to the top.

Again, nothing beats a refreshing coconut!

Finally got to try Inside Scoop ice cream. I've been following them on Instagram since before they opened their first store. I should have ordered a unique Malaysian ice cream flavor, but this chocolate was so rich.

We had dim sum at Mandarin Oriental, including durian crepes (yum!)

Had some durian fruit (you can smell it from a mile away)

We met Gwen and her family at Super Park, a huge indoor playground

Then had some char kuey teow (fried noodles) for lunch

Outside the Twin Towers

Siew yoke (crispy pork) with rice

This is where we stay when we're in Malaysia-- in Mutiara Damansara

Back at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to fly to Tokyo, Japan

Thanks for a fun two weeks in Malaysia!
