Sophie's 1 year pictures

Earlier this week, we took Sophie to JM Photography's (very cool) loft studio in Minneapolis for her 1 year photos. These were the sneak peek pics posted on the photographer's blog.

In this picture, Sophie is playing with her favorite stacking cups (thanks Denise!).

Here is Sophie showing off her pink tutu.

Sophie in her leg warmers (great for crawling around), cupcake onesie (her birthday party theme is cupcakes) and her personalized bloomers (thanks Jan!).

We climbed out onto the roof for these outdoor tutu shots.

More pictures to come!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day! We spent the weekend at home and relaxed. Ahhh, it was fantastic! We took Sophie to the Minnesota Children's Museum. She checked out the Habitot area, where kids can crawl around and we saw Clifford the big red dog and listened to story time. For lunch, we went to Cosetta's and enjoyed pizza and pasta. That evening, Jennie and Chris came over to babysit Sophie while Mom and Dad went to the Surly Brewing tour. The rest of the weekend was spent enjoying the great weather. Hope that everyone had a safe and happy 4th.

(Almost) 11 months old

What have we been up to lately? Besides trying to stay cool in this 90-degree weather, we've been busy with graduation parties, swimming lessons and basically just enjoying the summer. Let's start the photo tour.

Sophie has been getting good at standing up with the help of our coffee table. Every now and then, she'll balance herself with one hand and then sometimes release both hands.

Here she is playing with all of her toys in the living room. That's usually where she can be found in the morning and evening. Some of her favorite toys include stacking cups, books and blocks. Oh, and of course, anything that's not actually a toy.

Last weekend, we went to Richard and Kyrsten's graduation party. Congratulations on graduating! Sophie enjoyed the food- ribs, spaghetti and scalloped potatoes. She spent time playing with her second cousin Ava (8 months).

The day after was Father's Day. Everyone was over at our house, celebrating Adam's graduation. Bryan used his new grill, cooking burgers and brats for everyone. Happy 1st Father's Day, Bryan!

Sophie enjoyed the company of her extended family. In this picture, Kyrsten is holding her.

And here she is with her Great Grandpa Erickson.

We hope that you're all having a great summer!

10.5 months old

Sophie is now ten and a half months old. She's been busy rolling and scooting around and laughing and giggling as she plays with her toys. The weather outside has been beautiful and we spent today hanging out as a family. It was great!

Sophie and I went shopping last weekend and we checked out the Adirondack chairs at Pottery Barn Kids. Kid-sized furniture is adorable.

Sophie started swimming lessons again, this time, we're going to a swim school with a warmer pool. Here's a picture of her sitting with Dad on the bench, waiting for class to start.

Here's a picture of Dad and Sophie, mid-lesson. There are only two other kids in the class, so they get lots of attention. Sophie enjoyed "jumping" off the platform into the water.

Here's Sophie with Dad, rinsing off after the lesson. Sophie was so tired that fell asleep in the car on the way home.

Sophie turns one next month! Our little baby is growing up so quickly.

Memorial Day Weekend

Sophie is now 10 months old! We had a busy and fun Memorial Day Weekend. On Friday, we had a full house, with Britani, Adam, Corey, Carrie and Carter staying at our place. Early Saturday morning, the McMillans and the Hansons headed up to Bemidji for the long weekend.

Our course, we had to take a family picture with Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. The weather was nice and sunny all weekend.

Here's Dad and Sophie sitting at the dining table.

We visited a few parks over the weekend. Sophie loves to swing!

9.5 months old

So what have we been up to lately? Well, let's see, in the beginning of May, we participated in the Animal Humane Society Walk for Animals. This was our 5th year walking and raising funds. We were joined by Melissa, Chance (white boxer), Jennie, Chris and Jerry. Sophie enjoyed the 5-mile ride in her stroller and looking at all of the animals.

The day after the walk, we met up with Veronica at our favorite breakfast spot in town, the Good Day Cafe. Interestingly, the three of us were wearing shades of grey and standing in height order. Veronica remarked that the picture looks like an AT&T ad- "More Bars in More Places".

Last week, we met up with Tyler and Jess for apps and drinks. They are expecting a baby in October and we can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl. Congratulations Ty and Jess! You guys are going to make great parents.

I took Sophie to the park and she loved the baby swing! The weather has been great and we have been enjoying the sunshine.

Sophie is getting good at feeding herself and has been eating more finger foods like peas, pasta and Cheerios. She enjoys eating almost everything that we feed her, especially yogurt, apple sauce, plums, sweet potatoes and mac and cheese.

Sophie is also getting good at drinking out of a sippy cup.

Sophie now weighs a whoppin' 15 lbs 3 oz. She went to the doctor earlier this week because she was running a fever. Sophie stayed home from daycare on Wednesday with me and with Grandma the rest of the week. She's feeling much better now and is back to being her bubbly, chirpy self.

9 months

Sophie is 9 months old today. We had doctor's appointment and she's weighing in at 14 lbs, which is less than the 3rd percentile. She's just a little peanut! Sophie is 26.5 inches in length (25th percentile) and her head circumference is 17 inches (25th percentile).

Lately, Sophie has tried eggplant (which she hated!), pasta, peas, cheese (yum!) tofu (loved!) and plums (loved!). She started swimming lessons last week and had a blast. The weather has been getting nicer the last few weeks, so she's been able to play outside with all of her daycare friends. She's been starting to support herself if we prop her up against our coffee table or a big, sturdy toy.

Check out new photos here.

8.5 months old

Sophie has been one busy little baby. She goes to daycare every day during the week and during the weekends, she's busy with baby story time at the library, going shopping and out for lunch with mom and basking in the sunshine and beautiful spring weather.

Sophie has been rolling and scooting all over the place. She's also been teething, so she likes to taste everything- food, toys, books and anything else she can get her hands on. Recently, Sophie has tried brown rice and whole grain toast. I just made a massive amount of baby food and she'll be sampling plums, green beans, peas, carrots and zucchini. Yum!

In this picture, Sophie is wearing her new Strawberry Shortcake shirt. It's mom's favorite.

Here, Sophie is wearing her personalized Sophie bloomers (or as Amy calls them, "unda-pants"). They were a gift from Jan, Rob and Isla- thank you! Notice the strawberry birthmark on her back.

Sophie's very first pair of jeans! And she's drinking out of a sippy cup. And she's wearing shoes! She looks so grown-up in this picture (because grown-ups wear jeans, shoes and drink out of sippy cups).

Swimming lessons start next week! Here is Sophie trying out her bikini and holding her rubber duckie. Under the bikini bottom (hey, isn't that where Spongebob lives?), she's wearing a diaper and a reusable swim diaper. That's three layers of padding!

8 months

Sophie is 8 months old! She had a try at eating a piece of well-cooked pasta today and chewed on it for a bit before most of it came out of her mouth. Sophie has also been enjoying oatmeal, banana yogurt and squash. She gets a bath about 2-3 times a week and here's a picture of her from last night, holding her water cup and using a football hold to secure her rubber duckie.

Ready for summer

Sophie is ready for summer! Here she is, modeling her new swimsuit.
