7.5 months old

Let's see, what's new? Sophie has been busy rolling around and sitting up (she tips over every now and then). She has a beautiful smile and loves to watch Zoe dog. Sophie tried oatmeal for the first time today. She also has yogurt every day and has been eating squash, carrots, apple sauce and green beans.

Baby story time begins again this weekend. We'll be registering Sophie for swimming lessons next week. It's through our city's park and recreation board and it's supposedly pretty popular, so hopefully we'll secure a spot. Sophie loves going to daycare every day and smiles when she sees her friends there.

Seven months old

Sophie is 7 months old today!

Here's a picture of her in her teddy bear outfit, on the way home from daycare. She enjoys playing with her friends at daycare and always has a smile on her face when we drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon. When it's nice outside, like it was today, the kids get to go outside to play and get some fresh air.


Sophie enjoys playing with her Busy Ball Popper, especially tasting the plastic balls and stopping them from going back into the toy. She is starting to sit on her own, supported by mom or by her Boppy pillow. Sophie also enjoys jumping in her Jumperoo and kicking away in her bouncer.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Sophie celebrated Valentine's Day with her friends at daycare today. They had a party and Sophie received valentines and candy (which mom is eating...). Britani sent Sophie a cute Valentine's Day dress and tights and she wore the outfit for the occasion. Here are some snapshots of Sophie all dressed up. Happy Valentine's Day!

6 month stats

Sophie had her 6 month doctor's appointment this afternoon. She got her vaccinations and wasn't too pleased about that, but got over it pretty quickly. Sophie is feeling much better than she was last week and her pediatrician said that her lungs sound clear. Her latest stats:

Weight: 13 lbs 6 oz- 10th percentile
Length: 26 inches- 55th percentile

Sophie has been enjoying daycare and getting used to her new routine. She had a good day there today and has been napping and eating well. She loves the attention that she gets from the other kids and smiles and laughs when they play with her.

Gong Xi Fa Chai

Happy Chinese New Year! Sophie received her ang pau a few days ago and didn't really know what to do with it. So she decided to take a little taste of it. Everything now goes directly into her mouth.

Sick Little Sophie

On Monday afternoon, Sophie's daycare called. She was running a fever and I had to pick her up. Another kid in her classroom had respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) last week and we received the "your child may have been exposed to..." letter on Friday. I took her to the doctor yesterday and she tested positive for RSV. Darn! They had to stick a couple of thin cotton swabs up her nostrils for the RSV test and she also got a steroid shot, to help decrease the swelling. She's been at home with grandma for the past couple of days. We hope that she's feeling better soon. Poor Sophie looks so sad when she's sneezing and coughing.

At the clinic, she weighed in at 13 lbs 14 oz. Skinny little string bean!

6 months

Sophie is 6 months old! Today, she tried carrots for the first time and loved them. She's not a big fan of sweet potatoes, but she really enjoys applesauce. Upcoming menu items include green beans and sweet peas. Yum! She is weighing in at 14 lbs, which is on the teeny tiny side. We'll see what her stats are when she has her check-up at the doctor's in a couple of weeks.

Baby story time at the library has started again and each week, we read three books and sing songs. Sophie enjoys looking at all of the other babies and holds the books as we read them together.

The Adventures of a Baby

Sophie's latest adventure is trying new and different foods. Recently, we've added butternut squash, bananas and sweet potatoes to the menu. She seems to enjoy eating and get excited when she sees the spoon coming towards her.

Carter with Sophie. The McMillans stayed with us over the weekend and we had so much fun with them. We wished that they lived closer, so that we could hang out with them more often.

5.5 months

Sophie often looks surprised in the pictures we take. Something about the flash makes her open her eyes wide before the picture is snapped. The Christmas and New Year holidays are now over and it's back to the daily routine.
